Nickel-iron-chromium alloys have the same basic composition as Alloy 800H Welded Tube but with significantly higher creep-rupture strength. The higher strength results from close control of the carbon, aluminum, and titanium contents in conjunction with a high-temperature anneal. At high temperature and pressure, conventional steel alloys are subject to failure. This means regular alloys face severe loss of mechanical properties including toughness, ductility, and resistance to cracking, leading to an eventual decay by intergranular corrosion.
